Jeff Delano passed away on December 8, 2025, in Midland, TX, from complications due to cancer and dementia.
Beloved by friends and family, he will always be remembered as a boisterous and vibrant force of nature with an unforgettable smile, laugh, and ever-present irreverent humor. Jeff had an intensity that was palpable. His unique blend of pragmatism mixed with creativity kept life exciting – there was never a dull moment in his presence.
Born and raised in Princeton, NJ, Jeff earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Arizona State University. He met his future wife, Patricia “Patti” McCormick Delano, while they were both studying abroad in Bregenz, Austria, and they wed in 1973.
After a few years in Arizona and Pennsylvania, Jeff and Patti moved to Alexandria, VA where they had three children, Stephen, Kassen and Christopher. He founded Delano Demolition Services, Inc. in 1983 and had a fruitful career in the DC Metropolitan area in commercial demolition, asbestos removal, waste removal and recycling. Prior to that, Jeff worked at Wrecking Corporation of America, Design & Production, Inc., the National News Service in Washington, D.C., and as a graphic design consultant early in his career.
Jeff could often be found working on a project in the garage, or in a boat on the Potomac River. He was generous, loved music, loved to create, and above all, loved his family.
Jeff was preceded in death by his wife, Patti, his parents, Anne Kelsey Delano Adriance and James “Jake” Kassen Delano, and his in-laws, Stephen and Theodora “Theo” McCormick.
He is survived by his children, Steve Delano (Sarah) of Hobe Sound, FL, Kassen Delano Gunderman (Chris) of Midland, TX, and Chris Delano (Madison) of Midlothian, VA; his three grandchildren, Everett Delano Gunderman, Patricia “Peeti” Delano Gunderman, and Layla James Delano; his brothers Rick Delano (Jenice), Ted Delano (Linda), George “Geody” Delano (Marfe), and LtCol William “Bill” Delano (Beth); sister-in-law Theodora “Teddi” Harrison (Jim), his stepbrothers Jim Adriance (Barbara) and Matt Adriance (Anne), and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the many friends who have been giving so much of their love and support. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
