My condolences & prayers go out to Mrs McNews family. I too, was sadden to hear of her passing. I came to know Mrs McNew as a student in kindergarten at Milam Elementary in 82-83. She was a great teacher! I later had the pleasure of reconnecting with her, thru my children again at Milam, until her passing. I also, came to know her as the tooth fairy, when she pulled my daughter's tooth. They were so excited to come home and show me, the tooth necklace she had given them, to hold the tooth that she had pulled. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

We will so miss Janet. Her wonderful chow-chow and other amazing canned items that she made always kept me coming back to the family reunions. I was always hoping that no one would pick up her great gift baskets during Bingo. So that way they could be going home with me. Her smile and sweet attitude will so be missed. I am thinking of all of you and love you all. Ya'll are all in my prayers.

I am so saddened to hear of your loss. I worked with Mrs. McNew for 4 1/2 years and she was so wonderful to the teachers and the students. All of the children loved her! She was a wonderful cook too! I am thankful to have one of her delicious recipes. May God comfort you during this hard time. Sincerely, Amy

To Roy, Janet's children, and the rest of Janet's family, It's obvious to me that Janet was held in high esteem and sits at the Right Hand of our Father because of what she gave to children throughout her life. Janet was MUCH greater than an educator; she was a mother to those children that didn't have one; she was a comforter to those children that others shuned; and she was one person no matter where the child came from, she was there for him or her. No matter how awful a child would be to adults or to other children, Janet was there for that child. She was truly a kind, compassionate person; one of the kindest I have ever known. She was Milam Elementary's tooth-fairy! The good thing about her and children, was that she received as much joy from the children as they received from her! Janet was ALWAYS willing to do anything to help anyone! Even when she didn't really want to, she would move forward with a small grin and a small comment of sarcasm; but she'd do it. She dedicated her life to children and Milam Elementary. God put her on this earth for a purpose and she fulfilled that purpose! I and HUNDREDS of other people will miss her dearly.
