James Price, 61 of Midland, Texas was called to be with his Father on Friday, January 30th. A celebration of life service will begin at 2pm on Monday, February 9th at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
James was born on June 30th, 1964 in Sacramento, California to James Price and Frances Price. At a young age James frequently moved with his family due to his father’s military service. He grew up and graduated from high school in Rayville, Louisiana where he was a prominent member of the high school band. After graduation James lived in several different cities before settling down in Midland, Texas. Shortly after moving he met Sandra Price (nee Scott), whom he married in 1994 and shared several happy decades with. James quickly established himself as a pastry chef at Ranchland Hills and from there he moved to Main Event Catering where he was the head chef for many years. He was also the executive chef at Greentree Country Club, Cafe at the Gardens, Ally Outdoor Cafe, and Kilwin’s Chocolates Fudge & Ice Cream. James was known for his quick wit, gentle personality, love of laughter, and love of family. He was always prepared to lend a helping hand, be a shoulder to cry on, or someone who you could ask for advice. James won several awards for his cooking throughout his career including the 1998 Celebration of Chefs and 2012 Chef of The Year. But beyond everything James was a family man who loved his son dearly and his entire family dearly.
James will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son, Kayden James Price; his ex-wife, Sandra Price; his son, Ramsey Mitchell; his mother, Frances Price; his brother, Mark Price; his sister, Shirley Price; his sister, Barbara Schoby; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Midland Memorial Hospital for their excellent care of James while he was there along with Gentiva Hospice for making sure he was comfortable before his passing.
