James “Jimmy” Charles Holmes

James “Jimmy” Holmes, 85 of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Kelview Heights Baptist Church in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Jimmy was born on April 10, 1939 in Big Spring, TX to Ruth and James Edward Holmes. They lived in De Leon until Jimmy was 9, when they moved to Big Spring where Jimmy met his wife, Joyce York. They married in May 1958 and moved to Midland, TX. Together they had three beautiful children: Dewayne, Darrell, and Donna.

Jimmy worked for Hargrove Automotive upon his move to Midland, until he opened Holmes Auto Supply with his brother, Larry Holmes, in March 1996.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Joyce Holmes, his three children and their spouses; Dewayne and Brenda Holmes, Darrell and Amy Holmes, and Donna and Steve Wootan, his seven grandchildren; Stefan, Braden, and Alec Holmes, Taylor and Meisi Holmes, and Jordan and Ryan Wootan, as well as two great-grandchildren; Boston Holmes and Morgan Holmes, and finally by his sister, Belinda Pyle.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother, father, and his brother.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards Legacy Ranch, Visiting Angels, and Hospice of Midland for all their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UT Southwestern for Parkinson’s research or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Pallbearers will be Stefan Holmes, Braden Holmes, Alec Holmes, Taylor Holmes, Ryan Wootan, and Donnie Davis.
