Christopher Stephens left a message on May 26, 2023:
Jim was an amazing step-father, friend and counselor. As an OB/GYN in the mid 70’s he delivered me, something that I often told him over the years was how much it meant to me that he was the first person to ever see me and touch me. After I was born he joked with my mother about how big my feet were, never would he know that by making fun of me it would start a 48 year and 2 day relationship with me. Jim, or Chief as I fondly referred to him since I was a child, was a constant presence in my life and up until his last bout with COVID Pneumonia, spent several days a week with him and Sharon. 7 years ago my daughter decided to come live with me in Midland, and as a single working father of a high school sophomore it was going to be a struggle for me to be everywhere I needed to be. Jim and Sharon, without me having to ask, stepped in and helped me raise her, not only strengthening the already close bond I had with both of them, but were amazing grandparents to Zoe. Zoe and I both love and adore both Jim and Sharon and have been blessed to be part of their family. Chief, I don’t know how the future looks without me calling or texting with you or going to our regular dinners, I am missing a part of me now that you are gone. I am over joyed that you are no longer in pain or discomfort but I will miss you everyday! I love you and I want to thank you for everything you ever did for Zoe and I and for everything you taught me over the last 48 years, it was an honor and a blessing to have called you father. I love you and know I will see you one day soon beside our Holy Father in heaven. Save a place at the table for me!
