James Glen Carrigan, 79, longtime resident of Big Spring, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 1, 2024 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Glen was born April 23, 1944 in Houston, Texas to parents Mary Jane (Pope) and Theodore Carrigan. He married Ivy Lee, sharing 35 years together. He was an Audiologist at Southwest College for the Deaf for many years. He also signed for the deaf at Hillcrest Baptist Church as well as helped in the deaf ministry. Glen loved the Lord and served Him faithfully.

Glen is survived by his wife Ivy of Big Spring; his children: Brian Glover of Odessa and Michelle Glover of Big Spring; his grandchildren: Myra Minnick, James Armentrout, Brittany Armentrout, Tanya Sanchez, and Dustin Glover all of Odessa; great grandchildren: Connor Goltl, Mason Sanchez, Eymber Goltl and Paisley Minnick; sisters: Lynette Mclaine of Oklahoma and Margie Carrigan of Ft. Worth and one brother Donald Carrigan of Ft. Wayne. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Mary Jane Carrigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to SWCID or Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Glen was a good family friend when we lived in Big Spring, helping my sister with her hearing aids when she attended SWCID, and formed a lasting friendship with my parents at their business. Glen was always happy and uplifting, a joy to go visit when my own hearing aid needed adjusting. May his memory be eternal.

Glen was a very hard worker and willing to help anyone that needed help. He will be missed.

So very sorry to read about Glens passing. Praying for you at this time Ivy. I always enjoyed visiting with him at the dentist office.

Mrs Ivy, my heart is breaking for you and the family. Mr Glenn has and always will be one of my favorite people. Not only were we Birthday buddies and my first ASL teacher. He could always lift my spirits with just a smile and a hug. It was always a major blessing to just bump into him at the store. God knew I needed my Mr Glenn hug….he is always so good like that. I am so sorry I didn’t hear of his passing till this morning (day of his funeral) or I would have come to give you a hug last night. I also am unable to attend the funeral today or I would give you a hug today. So I am sending my hug through this message. You are forever and always in my heart and prayers. What a kind caring man, Glen was. His sweet smile and caring attitude toward my mother was wonderful!y healing His loss is great! Praying for your family.

I had the blessing of getting to know Glen over the last 5 years; first, as a fellow audiologist, but most importantly as a friend. We would talk audiology for hours and share research and journal articles. I loved his passion to continue to learn and grow in knowledge throughout his long career, and he was always willing to lend a helping ear! He was such a blessing, and I will greatly miss our conversations about the latest trends and technology, but most importantly the impact Jesus had on his life.

Dear Ivy and Family, We are so sorry to hear about Glen's passing. He was such a great friend to us for so many years. He helped in so many ways for everyone that he could. Glen was a great colleague and friend of ours at SWCD. He had a great sense of humor that left us in stitches. I appreciated Glen sharing tidbits of information related to deafness or the Deaf community with me. Glen will be sorely missed at SWCD. We are sending positive thoughts and love to Ivy and the family.

I am sad to see that Glen Carrigan is gone but he is in a good place with the Lord. He will be sorely missed by SWCD student and staff. FLY HIGH!!!
