James Crawford Henderson was born on Christmas Eve, 1927 to Zana Knight and Curtis Lafayette Henderson in Wichita, Kansas. He attended schools in Wichita. Jim graduated from the University of Kansas in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree in Petroleum Engineering. Jim subsequently attended and graduated from Stanford University in 1951 with a Master of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering. He was commissioned in the United States Naval Reserve and served two tours in Korean waters in the amphibious forces during that war.
Jim worked for Gulf Oil in West Texas for seven years. In 1960 Jim established a consulting engineering business. In 1964 he and Wayne Erickson of Wichita Falls established an operating company active in north and west Texas as Henderson & Erickson, Inc. He was a licensed professional engineer in Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Jim’s love of hunting and fishing and the outdoors was very important in his life and to that of his family and friends. Jim was a benefactor member of the National Rifle Association. He was a lifetime member of Texas Ornithological Society, Texas State Rifle Association, Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, University of Kansas Alumni Association, USS LSM-LSMR Association, and Midland Naturalists, Inc. He was a member of Permian Basin Fly Fishers and the Exchange Club of Midland.
Jim married Frances Louise Garrison in 1964. She preceded him in death in 1995. In 1999 he married Elizabeth Mece Adam. She preceded him in death in 2014.
He is survived by one son, Curt Henderson and his wife Kim Pipkin Henderson of Midland, and three grandsons, Russell of Fort Worth, Will, and Max of Midland.

A Memorial Service is to be held at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Midland, Texas on December 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
