James “Bunny” Massingill, age 81 of Big Spring, Texas was called home by his Lord and Savior February 14, 2022. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday at Trinity Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born August 19, 1940 in Big Spring, Texas. He was the last of five children born to Bert and Leona Massingill.
Bunny grew up in Vealmoor, was a gifted athlete who graduated from Borden County High School in 1959. He served in the Army National Guard and then married Sharon Buchanan and they had three children. He then started his life in the oil field, yet never forsaking his love of the land. He started M&M General Contractors in 1972. He loved flying his planes and working on heavy equipment, but the best of times were spent with family. He was the backbone of his company for 50 years, while continuing to farm and ranch. He later married Eugenia Sanchez Rivera. His pride and joy is and was his children and grandchildren.
Bunny is survived by his wife Eugenia “Jenny”; his daughter Becky and husband Keith and two grandchildren Megan and Michael all of Big Spring, and one sister Jamie Mills of Louisiana and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother Billy Massingill, sisters Oteka Hunt and Leola Green, Sharon Massingill, and sons Michael and Mathew Massingill.
