Jacqueline Denise Nelson was born to Wanda Jackson and James Nelson, Jr. on March 1, 1984, in El Paso, TX. Wanda became Wanda Samuels in 2001 after her marriage to Willie Lee Samuels. Willie not only stepped into the role of a father, but also counselor and friend to Wanda’s girls.
Jackie gave birth to one son, Sa’Jaybren Ian Phillip (father, Sheldon Phillip). Sa’Jaybren was her world and there was no end of the earth that she would not go for her son.
Jackie graduated a year early from Robert E. Lee High School in 2001. She later became a CNA and a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. She moved from Midland, TX to the DFW area in 2007.
She is survived by Wanda and Willie Samuels (mother/father), James Nelson, Jr. (biological dad), JoAnn Jackson (maternal grandmother), Sa’Jaybren Ian Phillip (son) and LaToya Jackson (sister). LaToya and Jackie had a bond that could not be compromised nor broken. She is also survived by siblings Arcala “Nikki” Hopes, Steven Samuels, Ashlyn Samuels and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Mae Smith, her maternal grandfather Leroy Finney, her paternal grandmother, Jean King, her paternal great-grandmother Retha Nelson and her paternal grandfather, James Nelson, Sr.
She will never be forgotten for the loving mother, daughter, sister and friend she was to us all.
