Jack W. McMahan, born on April 23, 1934, in Texas, passed away on September 20, 2024, in Midland, Texas. Jack had a remarkable life, having spent many years in Midland and Pecos before settling in Stanton to live a quiet life until his passing.
A dedicated professional, Jack began his career as a truck driver and later joined Texaco Oil and Gas, where he served as a gas plant operator and area senior gas tester with distinction until his retirement.
Jack was affectionately known as “Uncle Yack” to his nieces and nephews and was often called “High Pockets” due to his tall stature and the location of his pants pockets. He cherished all meals prepared from scratch by his beloved wife, Patricia Hammond, whom he married on June 19, 1965 and who also preceded him in death in June of 2003.
He is survived by his only son, Jason McMahan and wife Melissa of Midland, two sisters, Joyce Boyd of Snyder and Mary Lou Goodson of Fort Worth. Jack also leaves behind two grandsons, James Mitchell and his wife Stormie, along with his great grandson Ryan, also Dylan Wayne and his wife Neisha, who have a daughter named Zai. He is remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews who held him dear.
Jack W. McMahan’s legacy of love and dedication to his family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
