She was born November 10, 1955 in Loraine, Texas to parents Willie Phillips and Iris (Isbell) Phillips. Beth spent her early years in Colorado City, Texas and Knott, Texas before the family settled in Big Spring, where she grew up and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1974. Her boys were her world and she was a hard working single mother who always did whatever was needed to make sure they were taken care of. This included putting herself through nursing school, graduating from the Howard College LVN program in September of 1988. In her 33 years of nursing, she took care of and touched the lives of countless patients and coworkers while working in the Big Spring area. She spent her career at Scenic Mountain Medical Center, Home Health, and most recently spent 18 years proudly serving the Veterans at the VA Hospital. Though she loved nursing and caring for people, she was excited to be two weeks away from retirement.
Beth is survived by her four loving sons, Josh Peters and wife, Kathleen, of La Porte, Texas, John Peters and wife, Tiffany, of Stanton, Texas, Jeremiah Peters of Big Spring, Texas, and Sean Peters and wife, Valerie, of Big Spring, Texas. Her legacy is carried on by her grandchildren whom she was so proud of, Jane Cantrell, Jaxon Peters, Braelyn Peters, Kaden Peters, Cason Barnett, Levi Peters and Loraine Peters. Beth’s siblings, Ray Phillips of Big Spring, Texas, Martha Watson of Victoria, Texas, and Carol Phillips of Decatur, Alabama as well as her best friends for life and honorary sisters, Jackie Platte and husband, Larry, of Big Spring, Texas and Sandra Perez and husband, Romero, of Lubbock, Texas will carry on her memory. She will be lovingly remembered by many including an aunt, several cousins, nieces and nephews and close family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nancy Phillips; and a brother, John Phillips.
