Howard William Renton was born January 14, 1948, in Alvin Texas to Walter and Mary Renton. Howard spent a big part of his childhood & teenage years traveling and living in many different locations all over the world with his parents and sibling; his father was a Petroleum Engineer for Gulf Oil and was stationed in many different locations.
Howard graduated in 1966 from Churchill Area High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was drafted into the Army in 1969 during the Vietnam war, where he served for 2 years as a Specialist 4. While in the Army, he earned a Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, and Army Commendation Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster. Howard went back to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he lived for several years until moving to Midland, Texas with his wife and two sons. He worked as a company man for Gulf/Chevron until 1993 and then had several years of working in the Oil and Gas industry and for the City of Midland until he fully retired.
Howard enjoyed spending time with his two sons, grandchildren, and many friends. He had a fondness for playing cards and beating anyone in a friendly game of pool. He was a member of the VFW Post 7208 in Midland.
Howard is survived by his son Neil Renton and wife Tracy of Midland; son Brad Renton and fiancé Adryan of Midland; grandson Brandon Renton, granddaughter Rebekah Renton both of Midland; brother Walt Renton; sister Marie Fetcenko and husband Randy of Mesa, Arizona; Kevin Renton of Beaumont, Texas.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Renton.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the chapel of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to VFW Post 7208 and Hospice of Midland.
