Hector Garcia, 60, of Midland, TX passed away peacefully at Midland Memorial Hospital on September 23, 2021. Born to Lazaro Garcia and Enriqueta Godina in Racine, Wisconsin on August 20, 1961. Hector was the eldest of four siblings. After moving to Eagle Pass, Tx, he went to Eagle Pass High School and graduated in 1980. In 1982, Hector enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country until 1990 earning the rank of E5. Once he was out of the military, he attended the University of Texas Permian Basin. With hard work and determination, he graduated in 2003 with his bachelor’s degree in Criminology. Hector was always the type of person that wanted to help people, which is why using this degree he spent the next 3 years working for Child Protective Services. He then moved on, still wanting to utilize this passion for helping others, to begin work at the Texas Veterans Commission as a Veterans Counselor. In this position, Hector worked diligently, getting veterans the benefits they were entitled to. Veterans came from all over the state of Texas to see him, knowing he was the best there was. Due to the proficiency of his work ethic, Hector was eventually promoted to supervisor where he stayed until the time of his passing.

Hector was a loving man who cared for his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him and no matter the want or need he was there to make it happen for them. He went to countless sporting events and school functions to make sure to let them know they were loved. Hector was also passionate about football, soccer and riding any of his various motorcycles. This love for motorcycles pushed Hector in the direction of joining a club of riders and veterans. Soon, the club became like family to Hector. These friends would say he was strong, passionate, loyal and an all-around great guy to have in your corner. Throughout his life he had touched many people and left a mark that will carry on through the lives of many through years to come.

Hector is survived in life by his wife Debbie Belloc-Garcia, his parents: Lazaro Garcia and Enriqueta Godina, his children: Jessica Johnson and her husband Kevin Johnson, Lazaro Garcia and his wife Priscilla Garcia, and Yvonne Garcia, siblings: Alma Chavez and her husband Adolfo Chavez, Linda Ruth Garcia-Rodriguez and Luis Enrique Garcia. Hector also leaves behind a legacy of fourteen grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at First Baptist Church located at 2104 W. Louisiana Ave. starting at 10:00 AM.

I’m one of the motorcycle club members daughter.I remember my father considered Hector his brother and we considered him an uncle.In return Hector considered my father,mother,brother and I family.I remembered going to his house almost every weekend we would hangout,he would toss the ball with my brother and I.Sometimes when we would go to his house Hector and my father would grill some steak for us.It has been really tough on us since this is the first year we have celebrated things without him,infact I don’t remember the last time we celebrated something without Hector till his passing.Hector’s passing was so tough it was the first time I saw my father cry. I know Hector is watching us and is proud of us,we have accomplished sooo much and if Hector was here he would have celebrated with us.This is all I’d like to share we will always remember him.

My deepest condolences to Hector’s family! I worked with Hector at the CBOC in Odessa and he was always ready to help in any way he could. I want to speak not only on his willingness to help but also his knowledge of how the VA worked. He was able to help countless veterans because of his knowledge and his ability to find out the answers when he didn’t know them! He was a good man and a great co worker ! He will be missed and this is for sure a loss not only to the VA but to our community! Rest easy Hector!

My condolences to Hector's family and friends. I met Hector through his work as the Veteran Service Officer, his dedication to supporting Veterans in receiving the benefits they deserved was evident in all he did. I am saddened for his family and sad for the void he has left behind for the Veterans he loved to serve. May he rest in peace. He was a truly kind man.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Hector in Rota Spain. He was a remarkable person. He loved to have fun and would bend over backwards to help out a shipmate. His passion for life was his motivator. God Bless.

To the Garcia Family, I was in the Navy my first four years when I had the pleasure and honor to meet Hector. I worked side by side with Hector, played tackle football with him, and most important he was my friend. I new his late wife and his children when they where little. I enjoyed many parties that Hector held at his house, and seen the first man ever eat a pigs eye on a cracker. Yes that was Hector. I can still remember his unique and infectious laugh. I can remember how much he loved peanuts in his Dr. Pepper. I remember him as a mentor and a person who truly loved life. I am deeply saddened that he had to leave this earth so early. The world was truly a better place with him in it. I recently learned through a mutual friend about Hector, his love of motorcycles, his current wife and all of his amazing grandchildren who I am sure will truly miss him. My deepest condolences to the entire Hector Garcia family. My prayers to all of his family during this most difficult time in your lives. Hector touched many. You will be missed my friend. I met Hector in 1983 when we were stationed in Rota, Spain. Some of my best memories from my time there were made when I was hanging out with him. He will be missed. Siento mucho.

Debbie, kids and family, I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I pray for peace and comfort for you all. Hector was a great family man. I was lucky enough to witness that as he started his family. We met on day 1 in Bootcamp and I never would have guessed that we would spend the next eight years together in Spain. It was because of Hector that I went. He said "let's go to Spain..... I speak Spanish!" and off we went. I learned to speak Spanish, met my wife of 35 yrs and started my own family. We shared many memories that I will cherish forever. He will be deeply missed by the many lives he has touched. Rest in Peace my Brother!

I was Blessed to have known Hector . He helped me, as well my son in VA matters. He always took the time to visit and make an extra effort to help any and all Vets, that came to his office . He not only provided a service to all Vets that met him, but a Vet definitely had a ally and friend in Hector . My sincere Condolences to his Family, God called a great Warrior home!!!

Hector, you were always about giving, very compassionate and loving of and to others..... You served our Lord well, served and defended our great country....as Heaven welcomes you home and you receive God's reward of life with him....May you rest in peace and his grace.

Hector was such a sweet, friendly person. I enjoyed visiting with him in the halls of the Annex building. His service to his country is gratefully appreciated and his loss will be felt by all who knew him. My condolence to his family.
