Hector Garcia, 60, of Midland, TX passed away peacefully at Midland Memorial Hospital on September 23, 2021. Born to Lazaro Garcia and Enriqueta Godina in Racine, Wisconsin on August 20, 1961. Hector was the eldest of four siblings. After moving to Eagle Pass, Tx, he went to Eagle Pass High School and graduated in 1980. In 1982, Hector enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country until 1990 earning the rank of E5. Once he was out of the military, he attended the University of Texas Permian Basin. With hard work and determination, he graduated in 2003 with his bachelor’s degree in Criminology. Hector was always the type of person that wanted to help people, which is why using this degree he spent the next 3 years working for Child Protective Services. He then moved on, still wanting to utilize this passion for helping others, to begin work at the Texas Veterans Commission as a Veterans Counselor. In this position, Hector worked diligently, getting veterans the benefits they were entitled to. Veterans came from all over the state of Texas to see him, knowing he was the best there was. Due to the proficiency of his work ethic, Hector was eventually promoted to supervisor where he stayed until the time of his passing.
Hector was a loving man who cared for his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him and no matter the want or need he was there to make it happen for them. He went to countless sporting events and school functions to make sure to let them know they were loved. Hector was also passionate about football, soccer and riding any of his various motorcycles. This love for motorcycles pushed Hector in the direction of joining a club of riders and veterans. Soon, the club became like family to Hector. These friends would say he was strong, passionate, loyal and an all-around great guy to have in your corner. Throughout his life he had touched many people and left a mark that will carry on through the lives of many through years to come.
Hector is survived in life by his wife Debbie Belloc-Garcia, his parents: Lazaro Garcia and Enriqueta Godina, his children: Jessica Johnson and her husband Kevin Johnson, Lazaro Garcia and his wife Priscilla Garcia, and Yvonne Garcia, siblings: Alma Chavez and her husband Adolfo Chavez, Linda Ruth Garcia-Rodriguez and Luis Enrique Garcia. Hector also leaves behind a legacy of fourteen grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at First Baptist Church located at 2104 W. Louisiana Ave. starting at 10:00 AM.
