What a tough pill to swallow. I first want to say what an honor it was to serve The Hughes family for many years at Swensens, now known as The Red Plate Diner. I really enjoyed my many conversations with Carol and Harold and I was truly blessed to hear all the stories that he had from their past and to hear about their growing family, all the new grandchildren. I also loved telling stories of my son and sharing photos with them while they dined in and just him being genuinely interested in hearing and knowing, it really left a mark in my heart. I will truly miss him. Mrs. Carol, we love you and we are here for whatever we can do for you. Please come in and see us whenever you’re ready and able. May his sweet soul Rest peacefully with Jesus.

I would like to express deepest condolences from Charles Schwab and myself. I had the privilege of working with Mr. Hughes for about 25 years, and he was always a bright light. He always conveyed a cheery attitude and outlook, and was free with compliments and encouragement. He created and left a great legacy. It was always a pleasure to work with him, and he will be missed.
