Gwendolyn Lou Gunter was born on September 23, 1952, and entered into eternal rest on November 22, 2025, passing peacefully.
Gwen was funny, joyful, and deeply devoted to the Lord. She brought warmth and creativity into every space she occupied. She loved gardening, crafting, decorating, and shopping, and she was especially known for being a wonderful cook whose meals brought family and friends together.
A dedicated nurse for 40 years, Gwen served in various long-term care facilities and hospice care organizations. Her compassion, steady hands, and gentle spirit eased the pain of countless patients and families. Caring for others was not only her profession—it was her calling.
Gwen is survived by her daughters, Amanda Rimer and her husband, Joshua, of Midland, and Ashley Gumm and her husband, Alan, also of Midland; her beloved grandchildren, Samuel Rimer and Riley Gumm; her sister, Judy Wilhite, and her husband, Dennis, of Abilene; as well as her aunts, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her son, Travis Gunter; her sister, Jill Nail; and her parents, John and Lou Ann Griffith.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cimmaron House and Home Hospice for their devoted care and compassion during the past four years. Their kindness made Gwen’s final days comfortable and peaceful.
Gwen will be remembered for her laughter, her generosity, her faith, and the love she poured into her family and community. She will be dearly missed.
