It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our adored Guillermo Torres Limones, who was called to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on May 17, 2024, at the age of 67, surrounded by his loving family.
From his early years in Providencia, Durango, where he was born, Guillermo affectionately known as “La Popo”, took on the responsibilities of head of the family at a young age. He embraced this role with determination and dedication throughout his life. As a provider, he performed tasks like hauling water and doing menial chores for the price of one egg, ensuring his younger siblings had food to eat. As a protector, he stood as a shield to the neighborhood bullies, teaching his siblings to defend themselves. As a leader, his infectious personality and strong work ethic inspired everyone around him to try and match his love of life. Known for assigning nicknames that became lasting monikers. Guillermo’s professional journey began working in the Union Pacific Railroad and then later acquiring his education in the culinary arts. His passion was the culinary arts industry and was employed at several country clubs in both Midland and Odessa, Tx. Guillermo’s presence was loud, boisterous, proud, and sentimental. He cherished his music, his wife’s cooking, his motorcycles, his endless gardening and DIY projects, and the occasional libation.
Family was the heart of Guillermo’s life. He remained devoted to his mother and siblings and to his beloved Torreón, and his greatest pride and joy were his daughters and precious grandchildren, whom he cherished and treasured with his soulmate and wife, Laura Torres, “Mi Amor”.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00pm – 9:00pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at San Miguel Arcangel Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
The fruits of Guillermo’s life of love, laughter, strength, and dedication will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
