Gloria "GG" Eng, 79, of Midland, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the Hospice Midland Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital, following a brief battle with cancer. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland with Pastor Lowell Cessna, officiating."GG" was born January 10, 1931 in Temple, Texas. She was an only child born to William Bryan Strange and Clara Louise (Cantrell) Strange. She married George E. Eng, Sr. on March 29, 1952 in Temple. They spent their honeymoon in New York City. They then moved to Midland, where they raised 4 children."GG" attended grade school and high school in Temple. She studied music and dance at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She also attended the University of Texas at Austin. She played the accordion and piano. She modeled all her life. One of her favorite things to do every year was to be part of the Summer Mummers play, put on in Midland. She was the first (1st) card girl in "Olio", part of Summer Mummers, from 1979 to 2009. She would love to thank all of the members of Summer Mummers cast for years of fun and enjoyment. She truly loved it.She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George E. Eng, Sr. of Midland; two sons, Bryan Eng and Kelly Eng, both of Midland; daughter, Susan Eng of Austin; grandchildren, Georgia Kay Foster of Fort Worth and Erich Foster of Midland; one great grandson, Gunner Foster of Midland; nieces, Donna Garton of California, Gail Taylor of Las Vegas, Laura Lynn McEwing and Sharon Martin, both of Houston and Carolyn McEwing of Marble Falls; her dearly beloved "sweeties" aunts, Eve McEwing and Louise (Wesa) Martin, both of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Lou Tepe of Littleton, CO; and her sweet little black and white cocker spaniel named Madeline.She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt Gladys Engblad, cousin Bob Koch and her firstborn son, George Jr., who passed away April 8, 2009 of the same disease that took GG's life. She truly missed her (bubs) George Jr. They talked every day and were very close.
