Gloria Abella, 64 of Midland, TX passed away on Sunday, January 5th, 2025. A visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10th, 2025 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 10th, 2025 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11th 2025 at San Miguel Arcangel Catholic Church, 1100 Camp St. Midland, TX 79701 Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
Gloria Abella was born on August 11th, 1960 in Pecos, TX to Jose and Martha Marquez. Gloria graduated from Midland High School and Midland College where she met her loving husband, Mark. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and San Miguel Catholic Church. Gloria was a stay-at-home mom and while raising her children she was also the family babysitter for her extended family. She provided much time and care to her nephews, nieces, and grandchildren, contributing to their wellbeing, upbringing, instilling faith, and providing guidance. Gloria gave much of her energy and wisdom to her entire family countless times, her door was always open. She bravely fought cancer for 9 and 1/2 years, demonstrating great perseverance, strength and faith. Gloria was known for her joyfulness, radiant smile, powerful faith, and forgiving nature.
Gloria Abella is survived by her husband, Mark Abella, children, Martha Banda, Luke Abella, grandchildren, Anaiah Banda, Nataliah Banda; twin sister, Sylvia Martinez, siblings, Martha Bolivar, Irma Saenz, Jose Marquez, Robert Marquez, Ester Mitcham, Kim Marquez, 22 nieces and nephews, and 20 grand nieces and nephews.
Gloria is preceded in death by her father, Jose Marquez, mother, Martha Marquez, niece, Jennifer Martinez, Godmother, Gloria “Nina Loli” Dutchover, and niece Elena Corazon Marquez.
Mark, Luke, and Martha would like to express their gratitude towards all the family members for helping take care of Gloria during the last of her days and Dr. Chae, her oncologist for his guidance and support through her long fight with cancer.
