Geraldine Louise Eurich, a native of Sheridan, Oregon, transitioned from her earthly home surrounded by the love of her family on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2022, at the age of 87.
Geraldine was the daughter of the F. John and Geraldine Winter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brothers Robert and Richard Jenkins, her sister Julie Thompson, and her daughter Jerilyn Artrip.
Geraldine’s zeal for life started while traveling with her military family from Oregon to Okinawa to California to El Paso Texas where she met the love of her life – the late Howell Hoffman Eurich, and had five children by the age of 26.
While living in Okinawa Japan in the late 1940’s as a young teenager, Geraldine fell in love with the country and its culture, becoming fluent in Japanese, Spanish, and German. She had a custom built Japanese house in the middle of a West Texas neighborhood. She rode Harleys, she did bullfighting in Juarez, Mexico, and she had a red Porsche 911 that she raced in El Paso. While grasping all that life had to offer, Geraldine could also be kind and caring. She worked in nursing in El Paso, Texas and Denver, Colorado. She participated in Meals on Wheels in Battle Creek, Michigan, and provided lessons in life to all of her family both near and far. Geraldine was truly a force to be reckoned with and she leaves a legacy behind that will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved her.
Remaining to cherish Geraldine’s memory are four of her five children; Holly Phillips (Jim); Lauri Ayub (Vince); Steve Eurich (Patricia), and Stephanie Eurich Harper, as well as son-in-law Jim Artrip. Geraldine will also be missed by her fourteen grandchildren; Heather, Hayley, Jonathan, Lauren, Keldah, Jess, Leilah, Jennifer, Amber, Adam, Evan, Tia, Kristen and Richard; and by her eighteen great grandchildren; Cora, Lilly, Colton, Jackson, Kellen, Sofia, Brianna, Noah, Haley, Aubry, Bodhi, Sati, Jonathan, Alana, Mackenzi, Ledger, Cannon, and William.
Geraldine will always be remembered with numerous awe inspiring and outrageous stories; the good, the bad, and everything in between that celebrate an extraordinary life lived by an extraordinary woman. At the request of her family, Geraldine’s ashes will be scattered in a private setting and a Celebration of Life will occur in the spring of 2023.
