Gary Thomas Carr passed away May 22, 2021 at the age of 55.
Gary was born on August 1, 1965, the youngest of five children, to Lawrence and Margie Hodge Carr.
Born and raised in Midland, he enjoyed playing ball in Midland’s Western Little League and basketball in junior high school. Later, he was a baseball manager for the Rebels at Lee High School where he graduated from in 1983. During and after high school Gary helped with the family business until he began working as an electrician. He worked many years for Branch Electric and D&E Electric.
On Sunday afternoons, during football season, you could find him in the kitchen creating his Game Day snacks. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan, along with his wife of twenty-one years, Gracie Metcalf.
Gracie’s children, Corrinne Metcalf of Midland, and John Metcalf and wife Shayna of Coleman, blessed Gary and Gracie with four grandchildren who called him “Pops.”
He will also be forever remembered by his three sisters, Sherry Carr Stanley and husband Clint of Midland, Terry Carr Warden also of Midland, and Jeri Kay Carr Gannaway and husband Lynn of Big Spring. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, lifetime friends, and extended family.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Carr.
A prayer service will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Bellview Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall, 1710 N. Big Spring in Midland at 11:00 AM.
