Gary Robert Elliott went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Midland, Texas.Gary was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on October 6, 1953 to Don and Ruby Elliott. Gary graduated from Sharpsville High School where he was a varsity letterman on the wrestling team and drum major in the marching band. After attending a couple years of college, Gary began a career as a brick mason working side-by-side with his father.During the recession of the 80's Gary moved to Midland, Texas and continued his masonry work. At the same time he enrolled in Midland College, where he graduated in 1985 beginning a career in Respiratory Therapy. He worked at Midland Memorial Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital, and Health South where he retired from earlier this year due to health issues. Gary loved paint ball and was an avid wood worker. He was also talented playing several musical instruments including the piano, banjo, clarinet, oboe and trombone. Having dealt with life-long health issues, Gary kept a positive attitude and was an inspiration to all who knew him. His family will remember him for his giving character always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. As tears fill our eyes and our hearts long for sadness our spirit screams with joy because today Gary is walking with Jesus and is completely healed.Gary is preceded in death by his father Don Elliott. He is survived by his mother, Ruby Elliott of Midland, Texas; one brother, Mark Elliott and his wife Barbara of Midland, Texas and two sisters, Jennifer Shaw of Mount Vernon, Maine, and Tracey Arenivas and her husband Jay of Midland, Texas. He is also survived by his five nephews, 5 nieces and 6 great nephews and nieces.There will be a memorial service at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Midland, Texas on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00am with Gilbert Bela and Adam Elliott officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3001 N Big Spring St, Midland, TX 79705.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Midland.
