Frederick Leon Bost passed into the arms of his savior November 25, 2021. He was born on September 3rd, 1926 to Cora Lavora Hood Bost and Leon Theodore Bost in Robstown, Texas. He was one of six children.
Fred graduated from Robstown High School where he was voted Mr. Robstown High School, Class Favorite and Most Handsome. He was also elected Senior Class President.
Fred joined the US Army in 1945 and served in France during WWll. After the war, Fred attended Texas A & l University in Kingsville. He returned home to Robstown where he married the love of his life, G Lou Jones Bost. They wed on March 1, 1952 and lived 69 wonderful years together. He and Lou traveled the world together and loved visiting foreign countries.
Fred was a natural salesman. He excelled in his profession with The Jones Blair Paint Co. and later, United States Gypsum. He rose to the top of his profession, earning membership to The Presidents Club and receiving numerous awards throughout his career.
Fred was an avid outdoorsman. enjoying both hunting and fishing, he was most proud in teaching his children and grandchildren safety, and the tricks of the trade! When living in Port Isabel, Fred and Lou fished The Laguna Madre daily.
Fred accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and rededicated himself in his 90’s. He served as Deacon at Island Baptist Church in Port Isabel, TX. He was also a Sunday school teacher, RA leader, and Boy Scout leader when his children were growing up in Harlingen, TX. His Christian leadership was very impactful in the lives of many young people.
He was a gifted singer and was an active member of the church choirs at First Baptist Church in Harlingen, Odessa, Sweetwater, and Island Baptist Church in Port Isabel. Fred was often asked to sing at weddings and funerals but the most memorable was his daughter’s wedding, just before walking her down the aisle. After moving to Midland and joining First Baptist Church, Fred enjoyed playing worship songs on his harmonica for the baby and children’s departments during Sunday School Hour. His favorite audience was his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who would always be excited for “Apa” to play his harmonica and marionette.
Fred’s memory and legacy will be cherished by his family
