The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 pm to meet guest.Florida was born November 29, 1934 in Red River County, Texas to Washington Giddens and Queen Ester Hurd-Giddens.She was raised and educated in Red River County, Texas.She married Emzie Woodard October 6, 1955 in Clovis, New Mexico. Her husband was in the military and upon his completion of service they settled in Big Spring, Texas.She worked for the Big Spring State Hospital for thirty years. Florida was a spiritual women who did not say a lot but when she did she had a lot to say.Survivors include three sons, Emzie Jr. Woodard (Cynthia), Emmett Woodard and James Woodard (Marie) all of Big Spring; four daughters, Emily Turner (Lonnie) of Lubbock, Texas, Tammey Penny, Joyce Carr (Kenneth) both of Conyers, Georgia and Latricia Potts of Covington, Georgia; sister-in-laws, Alberta Woodard of California, Ruby Giddens of Lithonia Georgia, Lela Giddens of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Jerline Giddens of Dekalb, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A friend to the family who she considered a daughter, Bernadette Banks-Young and husband Stacey Young of Big Spring.Florida was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Emzie Woodard (July 27, 2007) and 12 siblings; J.C. Giddens, John Giddens, O.C. Giddens, Willie Giddens, Robert Giddens, Myron Giddens, Ray Giddens, Katherine Stroud, Cleo Giddens, Frank Giddens, Bobby Giddens and Eddie Joe Giddens.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
