Flora "Flo" Alice Nobles, 86, of Lubbock, formerly of Big Spring, died on Friday, October 8, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, October 11, 2010, at the funeral home.She was born on December 3, 1923, in Munday, Texas, and married John M. Nobles on August 1, 1947, in Munday, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1989.Flo graduated from McMurray University and moved to Big Spring in 1943 to teach. She finished her teaching career at Marcy Elementary, teaching 2nd grade. She was the perfect host, handled everything with grace and dignity and made everyone feel welcome. She loved to travel, especially to Ruidoso, NM, where she spent her summers. Flo lived out her faith in Jesus Christ.She had been a member of Big Spring First United Methodist Church since 1943.Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jack Shoults of Snyder; two granddaughters, Amy Odom and husband, Tracy and Susan Everett and husband, Wes all of Lubbock; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Haskell Cox of Corpus Christi; four great-grandchildren, Trey and Sam Odom and Anna and Alice Everett, all of Lubbock; and numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Susan Alice Nobles; and three brothers, Mac Haymes, Bob Haymes and Floyd Lee "Sonny Boy" Haymes, Jr.The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Ordonez and the staff at Covenant Medical Center, Calvert Home Health and Elmbrook Estates.The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, P. We adopted Mama Flo as our Grandmother when she met our Papa Ken. I will always cherish my memories of time spent with her in the mountains of Ruidoso and other numerous places they traveled; and many wonderful holidays together. She quickly became a wonderful, spirited part of our family. She will be miss very much. But we know she is reunited now in Heaven with all those loved ones who left before her. Cindy...I am so sorry we cannot be at the funeral but our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family...I am so thankful she got to go to the reunion this summer..she and Dad were so happy to be together again..both in their wheelchairs!
