Eva “Nonie” HagleEva Beatrice (Moore) Hagle passed away peacefully on March 29, 2017, at the age of 105. She was born on a ranch in Stonewall County between Hamlin and Aspermont, Texas on January 28, 1912, to Warren Pringle and Lou Ann Smith Moore, the middle of thirteen children. After graduating high school in Aspermont, she worked outside the home until moving to Eunice, New Mexico where she worked in a dining room managed by a sister. She met her husband, John (Whitey) Hagle while working there, which is where he frequently ate his meals. They were married in July of 1938, and moved to Crane, Texas where he worked as a tool pusher in the oil fields. When World War ll started they moved to Wilmington, California, where they both worked at Cal Ship yard building ships for the war effort. When the war ended, they moved back to Crane where they made their home and raised their daughter, Rita. They opened the Airport Drive-In and had a sand and gravel business and a truck weigh station for many years. Whitey passed away in 1962 and the businesses were sold. Eva worked at C.R. Anthony while raising her daughter. She worked there until Rita graduated and married and moved to California. Eva retired in 1977 and moved back to California to be near Rita and her husband, Howard and grandsons Jeffrey and Dennis. She moved to Midland, Texas with her family in 1981 where she lived until her death. She still lived alone in her house until May of 2016 when she decided she should not live alone anymore and moved into an assisted living center.“Work hard, mind your own business and keep on dancing.” That was her philosophy. She was also a very active and dedicated volunteer in various civic and charitable organizations until she was forced by age and physical limitations to slow down. In fact, during the week preceding her death she rode with Rita on her Meals-on-Wheels route. “Nonie” as she was known by friends and family, was loved and adored and will be missed by all who knew her.Eva was preceded in death by her husband and her siblings, as well as by several nieces and nephews.
