Ethel Mae Williams was born March 18, 1946, in Childress, Texas to Robert Ross and Gertrude Kelly. Most of her rearing was spear headed by her loving maternal grandmother, Ethel Lean Alexander. Her school days were spent in Plainview, Texas where she attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1963.
Ethel went on to attend business college for a short while but found working as a CNA helping others more rewarding. In 1967 Ethel moved to Pampa, Texas and almost immediately she was introduced to Dean Williams by her younger sister. After a brief courtship, she became his bride on January 25, 1969.
Embracing new opportunities, the couple moved to Midland in 1979 to start life anew. After settling in, she changed careers working in customer service for over 25 yrs. With her bright smile and loving personality all of Ethel’s customers grew to adore her and looked forward to seeing her. And because she never met a stranger, her customers became her friends. Anyone who had the opportunity to know Ethel knew she was a kind, loving, and gentle soul who would go out of her way to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
She was passionate about many things, but at the top of the list was family and friends! When it came to her family and friends, she was always ready and available to help. Whether it be a listening ear or a prayer warrior, she was willing to go the extra mile.
Ethel was an avid reader and of course her favorite book was the Holy Bible. She also found great enjoyment in preparing holiday meals, refurbishing old jewelry, working a colorful puzzle, and family game night. Because of her faith, Ethel learned early to trust God and enjoy the simplicity of life.
Ethel was a longtime member of St. Paul CME Church and going to church was important to her yet nurturing her relationship with God was of the utmost importance. She made it her mission to walk by faith and instilled in her family to always put God first.
Ethel leaves to cherish her memory, her two “best friends”, also known as her daughters, Angela Denise Williams and Michelle DeAnn Williams. As well as her two granddaughters, who brought her so much joy, Amaya Denyse Gill and Azaria D’Ann Gill. Ethel also leaves behind a host of family and friends whom she loved dearly.
Ethel was preceded in death by her grandmother; her parents; her loving husband; a beautiful baby girl, Tracy Lanell; and several other loved ones. SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED!!!
