Esther Cathcart

Esther Cathcart, 95, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, July 14, 2007, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Joel Miller, pastor of North Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church, officiating.She was born on October 30, 1911, in Bertrum, Texas and married Virgil Anderson Cathcart on June 4, 1930 in Roscoe, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1980.Esther was a longtime resident of Howard County. She enjoyed sewing, counted cross stitch, the church quilting group, luncheons at Canterbury and playing bingo at the nursing home. She was a member of North Birdwell Lane United Methodist Church.Survivors include one daughter, Mary Gressett of Forsan; one son, Robert Cathcart of Big Spring; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Patterson on May 24, 1996 and one sister, Frances King.
