Emma Schafer, 91, died peacefully, Thursday, April 28, 2022 at her home in Garden City, Texas. She will lie in state from 1:00pm until 9:00pm, Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Garden City Cemetery.
She was born September 3, 1930, in Ballinger, Texas to Ed and Fannie Mae Cline. She married R.C. Schafer on January 29, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico. She worked as an aide and librarian for the Glasscock County ISD for twenty years. She enjoyed her plants, flowers, birds, and cats. She especially enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching the deer, turkeys, and other wild animals graze in her yard and on the feed she provided.
She is survived by her two sons, Johnny Schafer and wife Linda and Richard Schafer and wife Linda of Big Spring, Texas; one granddaughter, Jennifer Holt, and one great grandson, Corey Holt of Forsan, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, Frank Cline, Johnny Cline, and Troy Cline; and one sister, Ruby Pattillo.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Baptist Church of Garden City.
A special “Thank you” goes to all the people who looked after and cared for Emma. She was a very special person.
