Emma Beth Peterson Cobler, 92, of Big Spring, Texas passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021. Beth was born June 28, 1928 in Lamesa, Texas to Joseph Marvin and Hattie Lena Peterson. Her early years were spent in Lamesa before attending Draughn’s Business College in Lubbock. Beth married Dan B. Cobler in the First Methodist Church of Lamesa, Texas in 1951 and subsequently moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for 21 years where Dan was Civil Service and Beth worked as a legal secretary. Upon retirement in 1972, Beth and Dan traveled with their Air Stream travel trailer as “snow birds” spending time in Colorado and East Texas. In 1981, they settled in the Chandler, Texas area of East Texas until Dan’s death in 2002. Beth relocated to Big Spring, Texas to be closer to family.
Beth was a member of First United Methodist Church in Big Spring. Her favorite past time was sewing and sharing her creations with others. Like her father, Beth was quite talented at quilting and shared her talent with family and friends. One of her favorite items was stuffed animal toys which she made and donated to various hospitals for sick children.
Beth is survived by a sister, Allene Pearce (Big Spring, TX), she was Aunt Beth to many nieces and nephews: Jeanne Davis of Lamesa, TX, Joe William Peterson (Karen) of Austin, TX, Marla McBryde (John) of Oklahoma City, OK, Beverly Dabovich (Nick) of Big Spring, TX, Cindy Barnes (Gary) of Lubbock, TX, and Brent Pearce (Natalie) of Missouri City, TX and 20 great nieces and nephews.
Beth was predeceased by her husband, parents, brothers Clarence Marvin Peterson and Billy Joe Peterson, nieces Marlynn Cline, Dorothy Planje, and Karon Zachary.
Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Big Spring or to any charity of your choosing.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com
