Eldora Maude Caughey Zant, 94, of Big Spring, completed her life cycle on Monday, August 2, 2010, joining her Lord and loved ones in Heaven. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the Vealmoor Cemetery with Ralph Anderson, minister of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, officiating. She was born on March 21, 1916, in Taylor County to J. L. and Zonie Lancaster. One of nine children, the family moved to the Big Spring area in 1923 and attended school in the Fairview area. She married Arthur Caughey in 1934. After his death in 1983, she married Nathan Zant in 1990 and moved to Vealmoor. After he passed away in 1994, she moved to Big Spring to be near her daughters. Eldora had worked as a beautician in Big Spring for 17 years before opening her own salon in Knott for three years. She then worked at the Kids Shop for 10 years.Eldora loved her family and enjoyed raising her chickens and turkeys. She was a member of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ.Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine and son-in-law, Nathan Hughes and Betty Pace and the late Fred Pace; grandchildren, Wesley Pace, Teri and husband, Eddie Chevallier and Mitchell and wife, Stacia Gill; great grandchildren, Zachary Rogers, Blade and Seth Gill, Victoria Martinez, Adrian and Jacobi Pace; three great great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Chapman and numerous nieces and nephews; and her stepsons, Dale, Dudley, Joe Don, Rex and Warren Zant and their families.The family suggests memorials be made to Crossroads Hospice, 421 Main, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or to the donor's church home.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
