Elbert A. 'Tinker' Taylor, 60, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Crestview Baptist Church in Midland with Pastor Roy Langley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 29 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Tinker was born on June 1, 1947 to Elbert A. and Louise Worley Taylor in Andrews Texas. He married Sally Allen on June 5, 1976. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, John Taylor. He was raised and educated in Midland where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1965. He played football at Lee High School and at Angelo State University. In 1972 he went to work for Standard Sales and celebrated his thirty-fifth anniversary in 2007. He was a devoted dad and loved his family. He coached GMFL, soccer and little league. He served as president of the Lee High School Football Booster Club in 1996. Tinker enjoyed hunting, fishing and Lee High football. Survivors include his wife, Sally of Midland; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Amy of Midland; three granddaughters; Chloe, Emma and Ella Taylor of Midland; mother, Louise Taylor of Midland; one brother, Ricky Taylor of Midland; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be; Joe Allen, Farris Parson, Ricky Taylor, Randy Allen, Rusty Allen, and Paul Harzke. Honorary Pallbearers will be: R.C. 'Scooter' Jenkins, Ray Allen, Elbert S. Taylor, Robert Turnbow, Robbie Allen, Charles Langley and Jerod Langley. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be directed to Hospice Midland, 911 W. Texas, Midland, Texas 79701.
