Ed Poulter was born June 29, 1921 in Waxahachie, Texas to Roy and Carrie Poulter. He passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 16, 2008. He was married to Margaret Ellis on December 4, 1942, and they celebrated sixty-five years of Joyful life together.Ed was a World War II veteran, serving in Europe for almost 4 years. Ed earned a B.A. degree in petroleum engineering from Tulsa University in 1950 and began his career as an engineer with Texas Pacific Oil Company later he did consulting work. He was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He took special engineering courses at Texas A&M University. He ended his career as head of the Petroleum Technology Department at Midland College for over 11 years.He was a dedicated Christian and a member of Fairmont Park Church of Christ. He served as a deacon, elder, minister of youth and personal worker at Golf Course Road Church of Christ, where he was a charter member.Ed loved His Lord first and had a deep love for family, friends and especially children. He was known as the "candy man" at Fairmont Park. His hugs and kisses will be missed by many.He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and 3 brothers. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his daughters, Paula Chick and her husband, John of Valdosta, Georgia and Patti Elmore and her husband, Larry of Morrison, Colorado; his son, Preston Poulter of Atlanta, Georgia; his 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Chick, Jeremy Chick and Jonathan Chick, Lindsay Elmore, Chase Elmore, Dailey Elmore, Kelsey Elmore and Madison Poulter.The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, May 19, 2008 at Fairmont Park Church of Christ in Midland with Scott Sheppard, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.Serving as pallbearers will be Jim McKay, Guy V. Speck, Hamp Kerby, Ray Chappelle, Eldon Herndon and Kenzle May. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders at Fairmont Park: Bill Johnson, Mike Brumley, Jack Estes, Ray Tobias, Pat Darden, Bryan Mason, Mark Elliott, Bill Hill, Bill Prude, James Blake, Jack Moss and Charlie Smith.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Home Hospice House of Odessa, 903 N Sam Houston, Odessa, TX 79761.
