Edith Prewit Kelley, age 87 joined the presence of our Lord this November 9, 2021, at Manor Park. She was born on the 30th of March, year 1934 in Dublin, Texas.
She attended Stamford High School, and was a graduate of Tarleton State University and obtained her MA in Education from ENMU. She taught 1st grade at College Lane Elementary School in Hobbs N.M. She had a passion for molding her students to develop a love for learning.
After retirement, she loved reading and water aerobics at Midland COM. Edith was a humble servant of the Lord and a prayer warrior for everyone that crossed her path. She was a great mother, grandmother and friend to her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her young union in marriage with Don L. Prewit gave her a large loving family, which grew even further after Don’s passing when she entered into marriage with Carlton Kelley. She was loved by all of her family and she will be missed.
Edith is preceded in death by her first husband, Don L. Prewit, her second husband, Carlton Kelley, her son Joe Don Prewit, sister Vinnie Joan Mosley and her parents James C. & Parolee Foster. She is survived by her son James Cal Prewit , Daughter Vonda Jillene & husband Gary B. Cothran , Grandchildren Valerie Jade Cothran & Kyle Roberts, Callie J. Deming & husband Matthew, and Geoffrey T Cothran; also by Carlton Kelley’s children Pam & Edwin Fernandez and Tony & Sharon Kelley.
Graveside services will be at a later date to be determined in Hobbs, N.M.
