EB 'Pete' Painter, 80, of Uvalde passed away on June 11, 2011 at Midland Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit. Graveside services have been scheduled for 11:00 am on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland with Rev. David Johnson officiating.He was born on January 19, 1931 in Monte Alto, Texas to Sy E. and Gertrude Godfrey Painter. During the Korean Conflict, Pete served our country in the US Army. Pete was a member of the American Legion. He lived in Pecos before moving to Uvalde in 1987 where he was a self-employed dirt contractor. He was known quite lovingly as "PawPaw" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pete was an avid fisherman, especially in the company of kinfolk. His dog, Baby, was his faithful and constant companion.Survivors include his wife, Clarice Painter of Midland; daughter, Ginny McCarty and husband Danny of Midland; daughter-in-law, Debra Painter Bower of Katy; grandchildren, Cheryl Galan and husband Lee, Chad Painter, Mechel Painter, Adam and wife Amy Painter and Natalie Painter; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke, Corey, Kayla, Katelyn and Briana; brother, H.H. Painter and wife Chris of Sun City; sister, Kristine Painter of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous cousins.He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one son, Bill Painter.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Midland.
