Dovie Nichols, 92 of Midland, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 3:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring, TX. Private burial will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Dovie was born on May 27, 1929 in Noble, Oklahoma to Gladys and LeRoy Wallace. She attended Midland High School and married Claude Nichols on May 31, 1947 in Midland. Dovie was Cafeteria manager in Greenwood and MISD, and a director of the senior citizens center in Spur, Texas. She always loved people unconditionally no matter their age, and was very devoted to her family.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ from her baptism into the Lord in 1947 until her death. She attended Westway Church of Christ in Midland with many members of her family. Dovie and Claude farmed and ranched in many counties in Texas including Midland and Dickens. She loved to mold and paint ceramics. In later life, she created homemade soaps, lotions and creams to sell and to give to family and loved ones. She was creative, spunky and fun. She knew how to make you laugh and brighten your day and was known for her wisdom. She was an exceptional country cook. Everyone was welcomed to her table, but an appetite was required.
Dovie is survived by her children; Claudia Chase and husband Tim from Mansfield, Texas, son, John Nichols and Autumn of Monahans, Texas, son, Mark Nichols and wife Sherry of Midland, Texas; 9 grandchildren; Scott Nichols, Stuart Nichols, Stephen Nichols, Jill Bishop, Jennifer Hanson, Jessica Morgan, Megan Smith, Jacob Nichols and Cameron Nichols and 7 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Dovie is preceded in death by her husband, Claude; daughter, LaDonna Adkins.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Home Hospice for their assistance and to our wonderful church family for their support and love for our mother for many years and for the family in this difficult time.
