Dorothy Sneed, 90, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.She was born on February 12, 1916, in Howard County, Texas and married Norris Sneed on September 14, 1935 in Roswell, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1989.Mrs. Sneed was a longtime resident of Big Spring. She served as a pink lady for Colorado City Hospital Auxillary, was a member of the First Baptist Church senior choir, and volunteered for Meals On Wheels. She had been a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the First Baptist Churches in Seminole, Colorado City, and Big Spring. She took many trips with the Colorado City First Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Big Spring. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing and crocheting for her kids and grandchildren. Dorothy had made hundreds of baby blankets for the hospital gift shop.Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Boyce and Carol Sneed and Larry Norris and Sharon Sneed; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Gene Bronaugh all of Big Spring and Christy and Rod Maupin of Skiatook, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Viola Solsbury of Kingsland; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Norris Sneed, one son, Jimmy Sneed, four brothers and three sisters.Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Carolyn Brooks, PO Box 2121, Big Spring, Texas 79721, Odyssey Hospice Healthcare, 1003 E.
