Dorothy Jean Pearce, 81, of Garden City, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in a Big Spring hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Claude McKiddy, officiating. Interment will follow at Garden City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 1, 2011, at the funeral home.She was born on May 27, 1930, in Royce City, Texas and married Gaines Pearce on February 28, 1946 in Caldwell, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1996.Dorothy worked for Garden City schools and retired after 20 years of service as the manager of food services. She volunteered with the ladies auxiliary at Scenic Mountain Medical Center and was a Methodist.Survivors include three sons, Gerald Pearce and wife, Judy of Sterling City, Mark Pearce of Pandale and Cecil Pearce and wife, Lynn of Andrews; one daughter, Debra Anstice and husband, Gary of Arlington; one brother, Jim Eastep and wife, Chris of Idabel, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
