Donna Josephine Adair Masterson passed away peacefully Monday, March 31, 2025, in Midland, after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was 77.
Born October 23, 1947, in El Paso, she was the youngest of four children. Her mother passed away when she was 14, and she went to live in New Jersey with her sister and brother-in-law. In 1965, she graduated from Sterling High School, one year early.
Donna returned to Texas, graduating from Texas Tech University in 1969 with her Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She met her first husband, David Rogers, in college, and they married in 1967. They moved to Midland and had two children, Adair and Colten. She returned to school in her 30’s to pursue a career helping people who were struggling with addiction and family trauma.
She earned two master’s degrees, one in education and another in psychology, from Angelo State University. She became a licensed chemical dependency counselor as well as a licensed professional counselor.
She married Bob Masterson in Midland in 1997 at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity. They would have celebrated their 28th anniversary April 19. She was active in church in Midland as well as at the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd in San Angelo. She worked in several psychiatric hospitals, including Clearview and Glenwood in Midland. She left Glenwood to take the position of Chemical Dependency Program Director at River Crest Psychiatric Hospital in San Angelo. She left River Crest to take the bold step of opening a successful private practice as an LCDC and later led the founding of Masterson Place as an LPC until her health forced her to retire. She was a friend of Bill Wilson for more than 40 years and had many friends in the recovery community.
Donna enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the church choir, and was very creative in the dishes that appeared from her kitchen. She enjoyed exploring different cuisines and loved to travel. The last trips she took were to visit a high school friend Claire, in New Jersey, and then to the Appalachians.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Masterson of Midland; her daughter, Michelle Salinas and husband Donald; her daughter, Adair Windham and husband KC of Midland; her son, Colton Rogers and wife Jamie of May; her grandchildren, Quinlyn Windham, Ryan Thomas, Trey Rogers, Cade Lindley, Madison Salinas and Nicolas Salinas; her brother, Roy Adair, Jr. and wife Robyn of Coronado Island, California; and her nephew, Bryan Adair.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Adair Sr. and Francis Elizabeth Spallino Adair; a sister, Elizabeth Vincent Adair; and a brother, John Thomas Adair.
A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Christ Church Anglican in Midland. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Thriving United, Safe Place, Teen Challenge or Rape Crisis Center.
The family thanks the Manor Park Cowden Cottage employees for caring for Donna. Adair Windham and Bob would like to especially acknowledge Jessica Callins and Angie Ruiz for their support and dedication.
