Dear McGonagill family, Bob and I were sorry to hear of Don's passing. He was a wonderful man and though we had not seen him for many years,we have fond memories of him when we all went to Baptist Temple in Big Spring. May God grant you comfort and His peace during these difficult days. The Newsoms
Just wanted your family to know how special Dr. McGonagill was to my family. He took such great care of my girls vision. He was the kindest, sweetest man I have ever met! My girls loved him. I loved him. He will be missed greatly. So our family wants to say to your family we are praying for your peace and comfort. May God bless you all!
When my brother, sisters and I were young Dr. McGonagill took care of us at TSO. The last couple of times I got my eyes checked I went to see him not knowing at first that he had been our Dr. all those years ago. When I realized who he was we had a nice talk about the old days. He had known my parents and we talked about them. We laughed most of the time I was in there. He was a very sweet and kind man and I'm going to miss visiting with him.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Don was always there for us and our family. I was always so blessed when he did my taxes every year when I first started working. He would be there for Joe and Edna, the Goodman's, etc. He and Laverne were such giving people, and Nancy is too. Thank you to the children for sharing your Dad with Big Spring. God Bless all.!!!!
Nancy, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how happy you finally were. I love you sweet lady and will never forget you. You and your family are in my prayers.
Prayers go out to Nancy and the McGonagill family. Dr. McGonagill was a very sweet and kind man and doctor. He will be missed greatly.
We send our condolences to the family.
Barry, Deana and family Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this time. Love, Gary and Karen
You were always a great Dr. to our family. Our kids loved you as their eye Dr..I loved talking photography with you on my visits and later becoming a fellow Kiwanian member through you. You will be greatly missed and thank you for the life you shared with all that you met. God bless you Don. Our prayers are with you Nancy and family.
Dennis, I am so sorry to hear about your dad.
We in the Health Services Department at the Big Spring Correctional Center are really feeling the loss of such a good man. His happy attitude and smile put the grumpiest of people in a good mood! He will be dearly missed by all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
Donald always made me proud to be a part of his family. In February 2009, he set up a trek to the Farnsworth ranch in Concho County for us to visit where our mothers grew up and he spent time as a child. That was a special bonding time for us. What a great legacy he leaves his family and friends.
A wonderful, smart, and funny uncle who was always a pleasure to be around. He will be missed. God bless all the family, we are sorry for your loss. With love, Byron and Robin
I always enjoyed Don's visits and our reminiscing about the "old days."
Nancy and family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Fine, fine man. God Bless All. Larry and Mary
Dr. McGonagill was always gentle, kind, and in very good humor. He cared for me and my eyes when other doctors did not want to. He was always a good representative of Jesus Christ and the Christian attitude. I will miss talking with him. Your family is in my prayers.
I met Dr. Mac well over fifty years ago when he worked with my mom at TSO in Dallas. My uncle took a picture of all the kids before you left Dallas that I believe still hangs in your home. My husband and I moved here in 1973 and renewed our acquaintance. He was a man who loved his work and loved people. He never failed to check on every member of my family by name. He was an excellent doctor and wonderful friend. He will be missed dearly, but I am sure that Jesus has welcomed him saying "Well done, good and faithful servant." what a legacy he leaves to each of you!
Everyone has lost a very true friend and a real gentleman. I have known him for many years as my optometrist, but more importantly as a friend. I never saw him that he did not have a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. He will be missed greatly and my prayers are with his family and friends.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
We send our condolences for the family. Dr Don was a special guy. May God's richest blessings and comfort be yours as you begin this grief journey.
Barry, Deana and family, we just wanted to let you know we are thinking of you. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers. Our love to all of you. Tom, Dianne and family
I was just thinking of Don over the weekend wondering how he and Nancy were doing. We will miss talking and visiting with Don. We always enjoyed the many adventures while living in Big Spring. Our love and prayers go out to Nancy and family.
The world has lost a truly kind soul. Dr. McGonagill took care of my family. He was my husband's doctor from the time he was a little boy through adulthood. When my children and I moved to Big Spring, my oldest daughter was quite young. We tried others but found OUR doctor when we visited Dr. McGonagill. Rachel was just not comfortable with anyone else. When the time came for her little sister and I to get glasses, Dr. McGonagill was the only one we trusted. They continued to see him into their own adulthood. God bless his family. You are in the thoughts and prayers of us all. Rest now, Good Doctor. Your work here is done. But you will be missed. Wanda & Steve Mundell Rachel & Jenna Mathis

We have lost one of the true gentlemen of our city and he will be greatly missed. I was first his patient and he was always full of smiles and tales and I always enjoyed visiting with him. Then I was blessed that he let me take care of his medicare supplement policy for he and Nancy, and what a blessing he was. Heaven is a little brighter today because he is there. God bless you Nancy and his kids for I know there will be a void in your hearts for a long time to come. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
My deepest sincerest sympathy to you Nancy and family. May the peace that passeth all understanding overwhelm you from our Lord Jesus Christ. Praying for you and your family.
Barry, Deana and family We will be thinking of you and your family and holding you close in prayer..
Our prayers are with you during this time.
There is no one word to explain my grandfather...he was such a wonderful man inside and out. He always had a smile on his face and was so happy and never let anything get him down. He was a very strong man. He loved his family very much, and always supported us in the decisions we made. He never missed a holiday, he always sent a card to me and then when I had children he continued that tradition with them. I learned a lot from him, and I feel very fortunate to of had him as a grandfather. I love him and will miss him, as will my family. Here is a poem titled As We...As we move on without you The world seems to grey The winter seems to come so fast The summer seems to fade away The world seems to stop in existence And we let tears fall But I can't help but stop and think What you think about this all You wouldn't want the stars to fade You wouldn't want the trees to shake You wouldn't want the leaves to shed You wouldn't want our hearts to break You would want the ball to bounce You would want the rope to turn You would want the flowers to bloom You would want the children to learn. So we move on without you Even though it's hard Because God has done this for a reason And now we're far apart Until We meet again. I love you Grandpa Mac!
Don McGonagill was a true prince, a one of a kind first class gentleman who will be greatly missed. I thoroughly enjoyed our many talks. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Dennis and family, Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
Dr. you will be greatly missed by everyone....always with your smiles...never complaining...loving your life to the fullest....it was an Honor to have been a part of your life as a costumer and a friend...we shall always remember you...will miss seeing you at the fitness center....will miss your sweet voice and of course your jokes(haha)...know Dr. that we are praying for the love of your life(Nancy) and your children and grandchildren...the Lord will comfort each one of them....
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Don will be deeply missed. We would see Don outside and he would always speak and have a smile on his face. Don was a very nice man and we considered him a dear friend. Many times we spent in the driveway just talking and sharing stories and it was very clear to me he loved his family and had many friends. Don was one of those people that you felt blessed to know and we are truly blessed to have had him in our lives.
My Grandpa was an amazing man. He was always leader and contributor to his community. I ran into many people throughout my years who knew and respected him. I always looked up to him as a professional. He was always proud of me and my accomplishments. I will miss him terribly. My kids fondly referred to him as Grandpa Mac. They always looked forward to the greeting cards he religiously sent on every holiday...Valentine's, Halloween, Easter, St Patricks Day and their birthdays. He was so thoughtful. They loved getting those five dollar bills to add to their piggy banks. I am grateful he left a lasting impression on their little hearts. I anticipate seeing many people during his memorial service, as he was well loved and respected. I will miss you always Grandpa!
