Donald Arthur McKay was born on February 16, 1943 in Grand Junction, Colorado to William Lee McKay and Ada Louise Callison McKay. He enjoyed playing sports including basketball, racquetball and baseball as well as coaching youth baseball. After High School, he joined the Air Force and retired after 26 years of service as a Master Sergeant. He then went on to work for several years with the U.S. Postal Service.
Donald is survived by his two children, Troy McKay and wife Liza and Tammy Bowden and husband Scott, both of Midland; his brother Bill McKay and wife Freddie of San Antonio, Texas; his grandchildren Thomas McKay, Abigail McKay, Andrew Beckett, Brandon Beckett, Cameron Beckett and his great-granddaughters, Gabriela Gaona and Ivy Martinez all of Midland; and his nephew, Rick McKay.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, William Lee and Ada Louise McKay and his best friend and cousin Leroy Zimmerman.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Heart to Heart Hospice, the Midland Memorial Hospital Nurses who helped care for him while he was there and his good friend Ruben Ortega who was always there to lend a hand when need be.
