Don Wayne Mackey

Don Wayne Mackey, age 52 of Midland, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 11^th.  The family will receive guests from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.  Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022 at Stonegate Fellowship.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.

Don Wayne Mackey was born on November 14^th, 1969 in Sonora, Texas to Ruth Pollei and Jimmy Mackey. Don is a veteran of Desert Storm. He served honorably in the Army for 8 years. After serving his country, he began his career as a firefighter in Big Spring then later joined the Midland Fire Department where he served for 16 years. Don enjoyed helping others, hunting, and especially spending time with family.

Don is survived by his wife, Diana Valerio Mackey, his sister Diana Mackey Barnes, his three children, Joseph Mackey and his wife Cortney, Matthew Mackey, Kaitlyn Mackey and fiancé Tyler Horn, as well as his three stepchildren, Valerie Sotelo and her fiancé Elijah Pallanes, Joaquin Sotelo, and Austin Marshall; and grandchildren (Joseph) Aubrey and Brooke Mackey, (Valerie) Luke and Julianna Pallanes.

Don is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Ann Pollei and stepfather J.J. Pollei, his father, Jimmy Mackey, and his sister, DeEtta Wilson.
