Don Ruckman, 72, of Midland, died on Thursday, July 1, 2010, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Fairmont Park Church of Christ with Don Mitchell, officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at 10 AM at Fairview Cemetery. He was born on October 22, 1937, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas and married Joy Arlene Schoolcraft on June 18, 1966, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2006Don served in the United States Army from February 1960 until September 1965. He was a member of the Barber Shop Quartet. He was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also played Little League Baseball, coached, and umpired ball, and was honored for 50 years of service in Little League. Don was a member of Fairmont Park Church of Christ and served as a Deacon for many years. He preached the Gospel all over Texas and New Mexico, and loved people.Survivors include his sons, David Lee Ruckman and wife Melissa Jo of Gardendale and Stephen Charles Ruckman and wife Stephanie Lynn of San Ramon, California; one brother, Larry Ruckman and wife Ann of Garland, Texas; five grandsons, Jordan Lee Ruckman of Midland, Troy Austin Ruckman, Trent Scott Ruckman, Trey Charles Ruckman, and Trace Alexander Ruckman, all of San Ramon, California; and his favorite granddaughter, Kelsi Maree Ruckman, of Midland; and several nieces and nephews.Don was preceded in death by his parents.The family suggests memorials be made to the Medina Children's Home, 21300 State Highway 16 North, Medina, Texas 78055.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
