God called Deedra Lynn Rice, 45, home on Friday, April 23, 2021. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring.
Deedra was born October 29, 1975, to Debby and Jimmy Reed in Pryor, Oklahoma. She attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church School, Big Spring High School and Howard College, all in Big Spring. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook and enjoyed her pets. Her remarkable memory allowed her to easily remember conversations verbatim that happened decades ago.
When her daughters were growing up, Deedra actively participated in their school activities at Hillander. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Ryan Mcmahan, who put the joy in her laughter.
Deedra loved attending the Oklahoma Sooners football games with Doug and Judy. She was fond of holidays, birthday parties and family vacations, decorating all with a lavish touch. She particularly enjoyed participating in Stormie’s wedding.
She is survived by her mother Debby Reed of Big Spring; three daughters, Stormie Mcmahan and her husband, Mitch Mcmahan of Midland, Elizabeth Rice and Claire Rice, all of Midland; her grandson, Ryan Mcmahan of Midland; uncles, Q.T. Coats Jr. and Clifford “Tommy” Coats, both of Big Spring; and two dogs, Duke and Wango, King Charles Spaniels, both of Midland. Elizabeth and Claire Rice are the daughters of Clay Rice of Midland.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Reed; her grandparents, Berneice “Granny” Coats and Q.T. Coats Sr.; and Irene Reed and A.E. “Sleeter” Reed; and her uncle for whom she was named, William Dee Reed, all of Big Spring.
Deedra was a kind, loving, fragile soul whose remarkable cackling laugh will be long remembered by family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
