David E Penick was born September 6, 1928, and passed from his earthly life to his heavenly home, to join his sweet Jerry on Friday, October 13, 2023.
Visitation will be Monday, October 16th, 2023, 6 – 8 pm, Nalley Pickle Welch. Services will be held Tuesday, October 17th, 11:30 am, Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Pase and Rev. Larry Krueger officiating, interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
David was born to Elmer and Mae Turner Penick in Rule, Texas, and was the youngest of three boys. He grew up in Rule and graduated from Rule High School in 1946. David worked in the fields growing up, and then started his future in sales with a tobacco company. Throughout the years he worked for Mead’s Bakery, Keebler, Murdock Brokerage, Barnett Brothers, and Arnett Brokerage Company.
David met his wife Geraldine (Jerry) while she was babysitting his brother’s 3 girls. They were married June 25, 1950, in Munday, Texas. Shortly thereafter, they moved to San Angelo where they started their family. David was then transferred to Midland in 1968 with Keebler Cookie Company, where they remained until the time of his passing.
David was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church of Midland.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Margie Norton (Fred) of Midland, G David Penick (Paula) of Magnolia, Melinda Luedecke (Pat) of Belton, his Grandchildren, Stephanie Mitchell (Brandon) of Midland, Kimber Barrientos (Juan) of Temple, Sean Norton (Jerry) of Garland, and Eric Norton (Kim) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Brittney Espinoza (Gus) of Santa Rosa, California; Great-Grandchildren Karsen Mitchell, of Midland, CJ, Melodi and Gianna of Temple, Luis, Iliana and Jacob of Santa Rosa, CA, Bradley Norton (Zahira) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Colby Norton of Tomball, TX,; and Great-great grandchildren Oliver and Emilio Norton of Virginia Beach, VA.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 70 years, Geraldine (Jerry) Penick, his parents Elmer and Mae Penick, an infant sister, his brothers Ray and Russell Penick and their respective spouses, as well as numerous in laws and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Youth Fund at Grace Lutheran Church Midland.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Gentiva Hospice of Midland for their 2 ½ years of care. We know he was an ornery handful, but he was our ornery handful, and he loved and appreciated all of you more than you know, as do we.
