David Joseph Scaglione, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the age of 43. David was the cherished husband of Ashley, the love of his life, and a father to his two sons, Anthony and Matthew of whom he was so proud. His face would light up any time he spoke of his family. Family was everything to David, and his greatest joy was creating a life filled with love and happiness for those he held closest.
He was born on June 5th, 1981, to Paul and Marie Scaglione in Manhasset, New York. He moved to Texas after meeting his bride on a cruise in 1998 when they were teenagers. It was love at first sight. They soon reunited and knew they had to spend their lives together. They married June 24th, 2003, on the same ocean where they met.
David never met a stranger. He loved people and delighted in talking to everyone he ran across. He valued people and relationships. David discovered his passion for cooking early in life, a passion that grew into his calling as a chef. David was truly an artist who transformed food into beauty. He found joy in serving others with good food. His love of people expressed itself through his ability to provide nourishment to those around him, not only their bodies but their souls. He poured his heart into every creation, seeking nothing short of perfection in his culinary accomplishments. David believed in the power of food to connect people, and he loved nothing more than seeing others smile as they enjoyed a delicious meal he prepared with care and love.
David’s deep love for the Lord guided him through life and brought him solace in times of hardship. His faith was a source of strength, and he sought comfort and purpose through his relationship with God. He faithfully sought the Lord’s will in all he did. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Midland. He was an amazing husband, father, son, and friend to many.
David was employed by Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring, Texas, as their Chef and Kitchen Manager, after serving 19 years at Odessa Regional Medical Center. David found a profession that allowed him to pour his passion into every patient, employee and guest of the hospital. He also had a catering business with his wife, Ashley, providing incredible meals for churches, organizations, businesses and families. He loved what he did and did an amazing job.
David is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ashley; his sons, Anthony and Matthew (Midland); his parents, Paul Scaglione and Marie Scaglione, his brothers, Paul Jr. and wife Dina, John and wife Andrea, (all of Florida); Nicholas and wife Christina (New Jersey); and Thomas and wife Natalia (North Carolina) & numerous nieces and nephews, and many extended family members and cherished friends. His kindness, laughter, and culinary gifts will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
