David Jeffrey Brashear

March 13, 1951 - July 19, 2024

David Jeffrey Brashear, 73, of Midland, Texas, began his heavenly journey on Friday, July 19, 2024.  David, known to his family and friends as Jeff, was born on March 13, 1951, in Beeville, Texas to Homer and Patricia Brashear.

Jeff grew up in Freeport, Texas where he was a 1969 graduate of Brazosport High School and it was there that he met his future wife, Patricia (Pat) Gail Alcott.  After their December 30, 1972 wedding in Lake Jackson, Texas, he graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas in 1973.  They moved to Midland in 1974 after the completion of Pat’s studies at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas and he began his oil and gas career for Union Oil of California and Adobe Resources.  He was a devoted father to their two sons, Ryan and Kelly.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Alcott Brashear, and sons, Ryan Jeffrey Brashear of Norman, Oklahoma, and Kelly Patrick Brashear of Midland, Texas.

His family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Raja B. Naidu, Dr. Mrunal C. Patel, Dr. Manish Dimri, Midland Memorial Hospital and Heart to Heart Hospice for the compassionate care that Jeff received.

Memorial donations may be made to Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals, 4200 N. Fairgrounds Rd., Midland, Texas 79705 or to your favorite charity.

Interment will be with his parents Homer Otis Brashear and Patricia Ida Smith Brashear in the family cemetery in Mineral, Texas at a later date.

Zach and I (and Dawson), would like to extend our deepest condolences. We're going to miss our neighbor, who became a dear friend. He was always available with a wealth of knowledge on so many subjects, especially keeping the yard looking like a golf course. We are so thankful to God for putting us in our home next to such a great guy. We really couldn't have asked for a better neighbor. Kind, knowledgeable and so supportive. He loved us, our son, and even our dog and we loved him too.
