David Bryan Thompson, 95, formerly of Stanton, died Friday, July 21, 2017 in the Watkins-Logan Texas State Veterans Home in Tyler, Texas. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas.David was born October 20, 1921 in Caddo, Texas, to John Henry and Jessie Everett Thompson and married Winnie Irene Gardner on October 11, 1942, in Colorado Springs, CO. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2006.David lived in Stanton 52 years prior to moving to Hideaway in 2014. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 and retired from John L. Cox in 1991, after having worked in the oilfield for over 37 years. David had an exceptional memory and delighted his loving family and friends with many stories of his lifetime experiences from boyhood, WWII, hunting, fishing and the oilfield. Those stories got bigger and better as the years went by.Survivors include one daughter, Di Anna Anderson of Hideaway; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donny and Betty Thompson of Hideaway, Dale Thompson of Lindale and Darrell and Debbie Thompson of Stanton; one sister Polly Elliott of Alvord; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and another great grandson due in August.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Winnie; one brother, Delmon Thompson, two sisters, Dorothy Mowrey and Bobbie Norman.The family suggests memorials to Evergreen Cemetery Association, P.O.
