Danita Gayle Earnest, 68, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on June 27th, 2025.
Born in Big Spring, Texas, on March 2, 1957, Danita was a proud West Texan through and through. She spent 25 years working with Southwestern Bell Telephone as a repair and installation technician, where she also served as an active union steward with the Communication Workers of America. Her commitment to her work and her fellow employees was unwavering, and she took great pride in representing her colleagues with strength and fairness.
Danita was known for her rough and tumble demeanor—straightforward, tough, and full of grit. But those who knew her best will remember her even more for her immense heart. She was generous to a fault, always willing to go without so that others—whether family, friend, or stranger—had what they needed. Her loyalty and compassion left a lasting mark on everyone she met.
She is survived by her beloved son, Daniel Earnest of Odessa; her sister, Darla Lynch (Don) of Kingsville; and her brother, Dale Earnest (Raelyn) of Tyler. She also leaves behind her cherished niece and nephews: Kaci Allen (Larry) of Big Spring, David Barton (Leanna) of Cypress, Keven Earnest (Ashley) of Schertz, Tyler Earnest (Serena) of Whitehouse, and Jared Earnest of Nashville.
Danita was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Raenita Earnest of Big Spring; and her grandparents, Oscar and Lucille Dunlap, and Joe (Red) and Dena Earnest, all of Big Spring.
Danita will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
