It is with both a sense of celebration and profound reflection that we announce the passing of Connie Strickland, who left this world December 2, 2024, at the age of 58.
Connie was born December 21, 1965 to parents Billie (Blankinship) and Eugene Strickland in Big Spring, Texas. She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring.
Connie embraced life with a spirited enthusiasm that touched everyone she met. A devoted sports fan, she cheered passionately for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, her love for the teams only rivaled by her fondness for the joy of a good game.
Connie had an unwavering affection for dogs, finding great joy in the companionship and loyalty they offer. Her home was a sanctuary filled with the laughter of friends and family, where stories were shared, and memories were made over slot machines and spirited conversations.
Connie worked many years as a secretary in the oil field industry before acquiring the first franchise for Dickey’s BBQ here in Big Spring, which she owned for over 10 years. Connie was currently working for Stryder Construction and Pipeline at the time of her passing.
She is survived by her beloved son Jake Moore, sister Genia Phillips (Marcus), who remains grateful for the many cherished moments they share, nieces and nephews Andy Neel and daughter Tatum Neel, Brandie Whitt (Jacob) and children Sophia and Kynlee Whitt, numerous cousins, other relatives and many many friends.
Connie’s warm spirit and infectious laughter will be deeply missed, yet her memory will live on in the hearts of those privileged to know her.
Funeral services for will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
