Clyde Emerson Phillips, 83, of Midland passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2014. The family will be accepting friends on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Services will be held at Alamo Heights Baptist Church on February 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Lucien Rudd and Wayne Keller officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be George Miles, Tyler Miles, Dillon Ricker, Chad Carson, Eric Neatherlin, Ray Pierson, and Scott Thompson.Clyde was born on September 25, 1930, the 7th child of 10 children born to Ivy and Effie Phillips in Hicks, Arkansas. He was raised and educated in Arkansas. He married the love of his life, friend and soul mate, Dorothy McDowell (who he affectionately called “Doll”) on December 18, 1948. She preceded him in death in January of 2003. Clyde began his oilfield career in West Texas in 1950 before working in New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. He retired in 1992 as District Superintendent of Operations for Ladd Petroleum in Midland, Texas. He was the father of four children Robert, Sharon, Bonita, and Sandra. Clyde was a member of Northwestern Baptist Church, a Shriner, and Mason and was a US Navy veteran.Clyde is survived by his son, Robert “Bobby” Phillips of Bakersfield, California; daughter, Sharon Pierson and husband, Ray, of Midland, Texas; daughter, Bonita Phillips of Midland, Texas; daughter, Sandy Miles and husband, George, of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Chad Carson, Shawna “Shawnee” Thompson, Michael Gilbert, Leslie-Anne Neatherlin, and Tyler Ryan Miles, all of Midland; great-grandchildren, Taylor Bostic, Caden Carson, Justin Bostic, Hunter Gilbert, Kindall Carson, Cole Neatherlin, Paeton Gilbert, and Case Neatherlin, all of Midland, who were a constant source of joy in his life; and siblings, Dub Phillips, Herald Gene Phillips, Gwendolyn Adcock, and John Crawford.He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Juanita Phillips, his parents, Ivy and Effie Phillips, and five siblings.,
